With the advent of technology, we have indeed advanced from chewing onto Neem twigs to electric toothbrushes to keep our teeth clean. Yet many are still not aware of this invention. The others who know about electric toothbrush are apprehensive in using these. But, the question is, does electric toothbrush gives you the best care? Will going electric mean less dental issues like plaque and less chance of needing a filling? Let’s find out here.
To use or not to use?
It is known that manual toothbrushes do not clean the teeth properly as they are not flexible enough, and hence, fail to reach out to the oral areas that are out of their reach. But there are both pros and cons of the toothbrush. Using or not using it will depend on a lot of factors! So, let’s get into them.-
- Electric toothbrushes rotate, oscillate and move in ways that force the plague to move from the enamel of the teeth. The to and fro motions also add on to better cleaning of the teeth.
- People who have difficulty with wrist movements can opt for these brushes and have cavity and plague-free teeth.
- At times, you fall short of brushing your teeth for 2 minutes because it gets boring. With these electric toothbrushes, you can continue to brush for the stipulated time since you do not have to put in any manual effort.
- Many of you tend to apply a lot of pressure while brushing since you believe that the bristles will enter the right gaps and clean them. But, this practice only does more harm than good. It is because the delicate oral nerves have to bear with the abnormal thrusts that can prove to be dangerous. Using an electric toothbrush reduces the pressure because of the presence of the pressure sensors and applies the minimal amount of pressure when cleaning the teeth.
- Electric toothbrushes come with the hassle of charging. On the other hand, manual toothbrushes are more convenient as they're smaller, lighter and don't need charging.
- Many people prefer the control of movement that manual toothbrushes offer. So for these, an electric toothbrush may be an unnecessary expense.
